Venezuelan cellist Gregorio Nieto and Spanish conductor Josep Vicent have joined forces with the prestigious London Symphony Orchestra to present Opus 33 romantic cello released under the ARIA classics label The album recorded live at St Augustine´s Church in Kilburn (London) features masterpieces by Saint-Saëns Tchaikovsky and Glazunov The title refers to the "Opus 33" shared by the two central pieces of the disc—works that have marked personal and professional milestones in Nieto's life since his childhood For this recording Nieto played an exceptional 1740 Omobono Stradivari cello built on the same mold used by legends such as Rostropovich and Yo-Yo Ma Producer Fernando Arias has defined the project as a quest for sonic excellence highlighting Josep Vicent´s ability to shape an organic and emotive orchestral sound The album not only represents the international consolidation of Nieto—who has collaborated with figures like Claudio Abbado and Gustavo Dudamel—but also the realization of a lifelong dream The album's release coincides with Nieto´s recent Spanish debut alongside the ADDA Simfònica orchestra in Alicante where he received critical acclaim for his virtuosity This work follows his previous album Esencia where he paid tribute to his Latin American roots With Opus 33 Nieto reaffirms himself as a performer of immense lyrical capacity capable of turning iconic pieces like The Swan into an experience of "eternity " solidifying his position on the world classical stage
