An Exceptional Catalog

The release of more than 5,000 titles across a wide range of musical styles forms the heritage of this company, serving as a witness and key contributor to a cultural musical network of immense value. This production clearly reflects the work Discmedi has carried out in support of music in general, with special dedication and attention to creators and artists from Catalonia.

Distribution and Collaborations

At the same time, it has carried out extensive activities distributing productions from other Catalan record labels, such as Salseta Discos, Star Music, Claus Records, Mas i Mas Records, totaling 80 companies, as well as Spanish ones. It holds exclusive representation for various European countries of prestigious international labels, such as Alligator (blues) (USA), Silva Screen (UK), Lusafrica (France), among others, as well as iconic recordings by Vinicius de Moraes at La Fusa or Les Luthiers. Currently, Discmedi’s catalog is one of the most important among Spanish independent record labels.

International Recognition

It is important to highlight Discmedi’s international recognition, having received three Grammy nominations with releases such as Cuba le Canta a Serrat, Familia Compay Segundo, and Miguel Poveda. This cosmopolitan presence has been reinforced through participation, since 1991, in the world’s most important music fairs: Midem, Popkomm, Womex, London Calling, South By Southwest, Strictly Mundial, and Cubadisco.

Adaptation to the Digital Era

Discmedi understood the upcoming changes in the music industry, and in 2009 it adapted to new technologies by promoting legal and regulated digital distribution—an activity it has continued to maintain and expand to this day.

The Future of Music

The future of the cultural music industry and Discmedi go hand in hand, relying on an effective legal framework and recognition that helps continue as a key driving force behind musical creation.
