Born in 1972 in Tarragona to a family of Andalusian immigrants with a great flamenco tradition, Antonio Campos began as a guitarist in Granada playing in dance academies and in peñas. His beginnings in cante arose as a result of chance.
The singer, for whom "flamenco will always be a transitory period, a late period" is what he wanted to capture in this his first work. ‘Tardo Antiguo’ includes gypsy wedding cantes, the Cuban rumba, Asturian or Aragonese sones and covers a route that goes from the cantes of low Andalusia to the arabesque cantes that remained in Granada.
